Located in the heart of Aizawl city, ‘Aizawl College‘ the second eldest college in Aizawl City was established in the year 1975. It was affiliated to the NEHU in the year 1975 till 2002 and it received recognition by Government of Mizoram the next year i.e. 1976. It was up graded to Deficit Grant-in-aid status with effect from 1st November 1984 and became Government on 1st January 1989. The College was included under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and section 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 with effect from 17.3.1987. While affiliated to the NEHU, the college was one of the prominent members of the NEHU family. It is now affiliated to MZU and here too the college continues to occupy a prominent position. The College has two stream – Art and Commerce with eight different disciplines in Art Stream offering both general and honours.
