YOUTH ADVENTURE CLUB

The Youth Adventure Club of Government Aizawl College was established on 1981 with membership open to both boys and girls. Every year we have grown in members and popularity.

One important activity that we undertake every year is to visit places of historical significance to the ancient Mizos such as THASIAMA SE NO NEIHNA TLANG, LAMSIAL PUK, PHAWNGPUI TLANG, and FIARA TUI ETC.

The YAC of GAC undertake 2 days Adventure Training especially for the new members every year under the guidance of qualified instructors provided by the Youth and Sports Services (Adventure Wing) Department, Government of Mizoram.

The YAC of GAC has in the past several years taken parts in the many activities undertaken by the Youth and Sports Services Department (Adventure Wing) Government of Mizoram such as Rock Climbing, Rappelling, River Rafting, Parasailing etc.

TREKKING : Trekking for at least 50 kms in an important activity that the YAC of GAC undertake every year and we have trekked to places such as REIEK TLANG, HMUIFANG TLANG etc.

CAVE EXPLORATIONS: Exploring caves is one of our important activity and we have undertaken expeditions to the KHUANGCHERA PUK, KHATDUM etc.

The YAC of GAC has visited the famous Rihdil Lake, the largest lake of Mizoram at the Mizoram – Burma Border. Student members on adventure missions are always escorted by the lecturers in charge.

TRAINING UNDERTAKEN : Some of our members are sent for different Trainings Course, Adventure Course, Basic Course, Advanced Course and the Search and Rescue Course at different Mountaineering Institutes such as the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling and the National Institute of Mountaineering, Uttar Kashi (U.P) sponsored by the Youth and Sports Services Department, Government of Mizoram.

INCOME: The YAC of GAC do not received any funds from any sources and we are proud to say that we are entirely self-funded and our main sources of income are from the Membership Fee collected every year from new Members, contributions and funds gained by undertaking different work under different Government Departments.
